20 Nov Winter Wonderland Dining Room – 2018
I can’t believe November is almost over and we’re only a little over a month away from Christmas. This month has flown by! Within the last week or so, I started breaking out some of the Christmas decor. I am not hosting Thanksgiving this year so I figured, why not get a head start? The truth is, I’m an early decorator 😉 When my husband and I were first married (pre-kids), I used to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. We would go get our real tree on Black Friday (which is still a tradition we do) and I would spend the whole weekend decorating. Well, that doesn’t happen anymore. I don’t get large chunks of time where I can just bust everything out. I like to start early so I feel less stressed and can enjoy the decorations. After all, it is my favorite holiday to decorate so pretty much the whole house is decked out. I’m like Clark Griswold or Buddy the Elf 🙂
Anyways, let’s get to it. I started with the dining room. As I said earlier, we get our real tree on Black Friday so I find it a bit challenging to get most of my decor up before then. I like to change up how I use my decor from year to year and what might’ve been on the tree one year may end up somewhere else throughout the house. The dining room is the easiest place to start because it’s relatively small so I like to keep it simple.
I’ve always loved mercury glass so that was my inspiration for this room. I wanted to incorporate antique silvers with neutrals and greenery.
On this buffet I refinished awhile back, I draped some fun DIY garlands over the chalkboard for some whimsical, farmhouse charm.
I mixed various antique silvers I’ve collected over the years with white houses from the Target dollar spot.
To the left of the buffet is our mug rack which I kept simple.
I added small sprigs of pine with eucalyptus for a subtle Christmas touch.
On the opposite side of the buffet, is this antique dresser. I mixed white dishes with mercury glass trees from HomeGoods and ornaments in the bowl I bought from Pottery Barn after Christmas a few years ago.
As for the tablescape set up, I layered two garlands down the center.
I zig-zagged the garlands and added mercury glass candle holders, trees and ornaments.
I used antique silverware with white plates and silver napkin rings from Crate & Barrel.
The reindeer are the only rose gold, copper color that ties into our mug rack which has a few copper mugs.
The centerpiece is an antique urn planter that I added various sprigs of faux greenery.
I hope you enjoyed my Winter Wonderland dining room setup. I will be sharing more rooms decked out for Christmas soon. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! <3
