28 Jul The next 2 months of building
A lot more progress was made in the next two months!
Here are some photos of the progress that was made after the first month of construction.
Here are some photos showing the progress after two months.
New windows were put in which are one of my favorite features of this house. They are Harvey windows and the window panes are inside the glass which makes them so easy to clean! They also tilt inside the house so I can easily clean the outside glass.
You can see in this image that the original first floor front windows had to be moved to line up with the second floor windows. Also, you’ll notice that we had to remove a couple trees that were right up against the house.
From the left side view, you can see a big block of cement. This was the fireplace that we had to remove. It would’ve been nice to keep but it didn’t work in its original spot.
So one of the unique things about the original house is that it was made out of cinder blocks as seen here and in an earlier post. We could’ve put siding over this to match the house but because this is our “starter home” and we wanted to cut down on cost, we decided to paint it to match the color of the siding.
